Our aim, when children have lessons with us, is to try to help children to do better in their work at school and at home. Over the years we have had feedback from parents, teachers and head teachers that our work has had a positive impact.
International studies (http://schoolinspections.eu/impact/home/the-project) have shown that an effective inspection of a school has the potential to change the lives of children in schools. There is a fascinating study, funded by the EU, that looks at the role of the inspectorate in eight European countries. England took part and was represented by University of Durham, Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring, (CEM), United Kingdom.
11+ children in some areas of England take the CEM examinations. Part of the role of the 11+ examinations is to try to identify bright children who have the potential to do well academically. It would be interesting to find out how different countries relish the task of extending and enriching very bright children.
