Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Some children may need extra or different help from that given to other children of the same age. Children with SEN may need extra help because of a range of needs, such as in thinking and understanding, physical or sensory difficulties, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or difficulties with speech and language or how they relate to and behave with other people.

Many children will have SEN of some kind at some time during their education. Of course, children make progress at different rates and have different ways in which they learn best.

The Extra Tuition Centre works hard with parents and in many cases their child’s school SENCO to ensure that we compliment the work done in the classroom.

A comprehensive assessment is the first step. Parents should let us know if their child is having difficulties at school so we can tailor the assessment accordingly. Although we are not a Dyslexic centre, we do have children attending lessons who are dyslexic or have learning problems.

We often are given the child’s IEP (Individual Action Plan) from school and incorporate this work into our lessons to provide an element of personalised learning.
